Group A
Immediately labelled the 'group of death', Group A presented a tough task of qualification with three heavyweight european teams in the shape of Real Madrid, FC Barcelona & Manchester United and also included new team Patagonia.
English team Manchester United were set the tough job of travelling to the Argentinian Champions Patagonia. After a tough battle the english club got the tough job done, with a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Carlos Tevez, an Argentinian international.
Next off to Madrid for the biggest game in Spanish Football with the Galaticos taking on the reigning champions and fierce rivals Barcelona. Like the first game it ended 1-0, to Real Madrid thanks to Javier Saviola's cheeky finish.
Real Madrid were the next team to face Patagonia in Argentina, and like Manchester United experienced several problems. The impressive partnership of Panuemo and Panagio had combined well to give the host team a shock 1-0 lead, and with 15 minutes left Madrid digged deep to travel home with a point thanks to Guti's 18 yard strike.
Off to Barcelona, with the regning champions behind the pace could catch up with a home win against Manchester United. 0-0 the full time result, United in control.
Going into the last games, Barcelona beat Patagonia 1-0, meaning that if Madrid or United were to win 2-0 then Barcelona would go through at expense of the losing team. Unfortunately for Barcelona, Real Madrid won 1-0 meaning Manchester United & Madrid go through to the last 8.
